History
The law firm of Penev & Partners Law Offices
was established in 1992, in the city of Sofia - capital of the
Republic of Bulgaria, by Mr. Sergei Penev. The firm has grown
considerably since then, both in terms of its international
client base (European and North American in scope), as well
as its number of lawyers and support staff. Penev & Partners Law Offices
is located in the heart of the business district of Sofia and
maintains excellent relationships with the main financial, judicial
and governmental offices in Bulgaria. In early 1995 the law
firm opened a representative office in the city of Plovdiv,
the second largest financial and commercial center in Bulgaria, and in 2003 – another one in Varna.
Today our team consists exceptionally of young and perfectly-trained professionals totally numbering to 27 lawyers.
At present, the head office
of Penev & Partners Law Offices in Sofia consists of 10 attorneys and
four paralegals. The firm’s Plovdiv office consists of
four lawyers and associated support personnel.
The firm has a notary on staff and
maintains separate real estate offices established to provide
its clients with a complete range of property services.
Since its inception immediately following the dramatic political
changes in Eastern Europe, the firm has been engaged in representing
foreign investors and businesses. In the course of advising
large corporations and institutional clients since the collapse
of the Soviet Union Penev & Partners Law Offices has gained a significant amount of
expertise and knowledge in the area of privatisation. This has
enabled us to maintain a leading position among Bulgarian law
firms.
Penev & Partners Law Offices provide a comprehensive range of legal services
to both private and institutional clients in Bulgaria and in
other countries through our affiliates. Penev & Partners Law Offices has established
correspondent relationships with leading law firms in most of
the European Union countries, USA, Canada, CIS, Central and
Eastern European countries, as well as in all major cities in
Bulgaria.
The nature of some of our major clients’ business required
our in-depth expertise in the areas of IT and the telecommunication
sector, unfair competition, corporate finance (M&A; privatisation)
and regulatory matters, as well as labour and social security
law. We deem these areas to be the fields of our greatest expertise.
